Kenneth Canter
Kenneth Canter is a resident of Wilkes County, NC and the husband of Carol M. Canter. Ken serves as the President of Canter Construction Company. They have two sons, Jeff and Richard, who are both in the construction business. They are also grandparents to nine grandchildren, three girls and six boys.
Ken has been in the residential and commercial construction business for 45 years and is a licensed General Contractor. He is a graduate of North Carolina State University with a BS in Manufacturing and Management. He opened Canter Construction Company in 1978 and has worked with individuals and businesses alike to help them with their construction and remodeling needs. Kenneth has been involved with the National and Wilkes County Home Builders’ Association and served as president several times.
Ken Canter started Canter Construction Company in 1978 after working for Lowe's Companies, Inc. and Holly Farms Poultry Industries, Inc. where he served in various capacities of Engineering and Construction. He is a graduate of North Carolina State University School of Engineering and is a licensed General Contractor in North Carolina . He is also a licensed Real Estate Broker in North Carolina. He has developed several real estate sub divisions for residential and commercial uses and constructed many residential, commercial as well as industrial projects. He is a member of the North Carolina Home Builders Association and has served as the Wilkes County chapter President for several terms. He is active on several Boards and Committees for the Town of Wilkesboro and served on the Vestry of St Pauls Episcopal Church in Wilkesboro where he is a member. He is involved with Wilkes County Habitat for Humanity and has overseen several houses.
Richard Shane Canter
Richard Canter is a resident of Wilkes County, NC and the husband of Carol B. Canter. They have three children, Ross, Rachel, and Riley. Richard is the Vice President of the company and supervisor of construction at Canter Construction Company and also has a cow-calf business.
Richard has been in the residential and commercial construction business for 33 years. He attended North Carolina State University and began working for Canter Construction Company alongside his father in 1989. Richard wears many hats in the company, including supervisor, laborer, estimator, and designer. He works very closely with his customers to ensure they receive the product they expect once construction is complete.
Carol M. Canter
Carol M. Canter is secretary of Canter Construction Company and the wife of Kenneth Canter for 61 years. She attended Peace College in Raleigh. She is an active member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and volunteers regularly with the Crisis Assistance Ministries at St. Paul’s. She has worked at the construction office since its inception and is responsible for bookkeeping.
Carol B. Canter
Carol B. Canter is also a secretary of Canter Construction Company and the wife of Richard Canter for 30 years. She graduated from Appalachian State University with a BS in Mathematics and Gardner-Webb University with a MA in Executive Leadership. Carol has worked at the construction office since 2021. She is a retired mathematics teacher and is responsible for invoicing and payroll.
